2018 Annual Conference – Creating the Resilient Leader

VPA's Annual Conference was held on August 16 and 17, 2018.

‘Creating the Resilient Leader’ was this year's theme - and we received enormously positive feedback indicating the success of the conference.

We commenced with an energetic performance from the Djirri Djirri Dance Company who danced and shared some of their indigenous history with us. This was followed by Minister James Merlino, who touched on the latest initiatives and thanked the participants in the room for the wonderful work they do in schools.

Minister Merlino was followed by an inspirational line-up of speakers commencing with Susan Alberti. Susan's self belief and journey to overcome the odds in the face of great personal tragedy was truly inspiring.

Luke Ross followed, sharing his knowledge on how to create a culture of resilience and how to develop an adaptive mindset.

Robyn Moore rounded out the day with a hilarious presentation touching on her time working with Make a Wish recipients.

Friday commenced with a brilliant drumming performance by Huntingdale Primary School. What a talented group of students! Gill Callister followed, discussing how collaboration shapes our future. Tracey Ezard then spoke of how to create a thriving and collaborative staff learning culture.

Andrew Fuller's funny presentation on dealing with the many tricky people we have in our workplace was thoughtful and honest.

And finally our closing keynote speaker Jason McCartney shared his courageous journey in overcoming adversity after the Bali bombings in 2002.

We would like to thank our wonderful Business Partners and Exhibitors, whose generosity goes a long way towards making it possible for us to hold the conference. Check out some photos below of our time at the conference!
